Calling all coffee connoisseurs…

Mushroom Honey is especially beneficial for coffee lovers! Ever wished you could enjoy the goodness of coffee without the unwanted jitters and heart palpitations? When you add a spoonful of this magical honey to your coffee, the adaptogens inside work their wonders by helping to balance your body's cortisol levels.

This means that even if you're sensitive to caffeine, you can savour every sip of your favourite brew without worrying about the usual side effects. It's the perfect way to experience the benefits of caffeine without the icky stuff.

Time to grab your coffee grinder or cafetiere, add a small amount of Mushroom Honey (or more if you normally take sugar), and let the blissful sipping begin.

Are you a fan of mushroom coffee? Why not switch full-time to Mushroom Honey and add to your coffee – some of the most popular coffees contain only two mushroom types – we have seven!

Absolutely delicious! Not what I was expecting at all. Mushroom Honey has a treacle like texture and flavour, with a hint of coca, giving a rich depth. Perfect in my coffee. Emma, Consumer

LEARN MORE ABOUT THE POWER OF MUSHROOMS IN HONEY

What is Mushroom Honey?

Our Mushroom Honey is the first of its kind on the market and is mouth-wateringly delicious; the sweet honey flavour is enhanced by an exquisite rich coca taste from the mushroom.

It is made using Honey Heaven’s organic Acacia Honey and a freeze-dried mix of seven organic mushroom varieties: Reishi, Chaga, Shitake, Maitake, Lion’s Mane, Cordyceps, Tremella, all grown in Hampshire, UK.

By combining them with our organic pure premium honey, we have created a delectable and earthy product that not only tastes great but also offers additional health advantages.

But while it may sound straightforward, deriving benefits from medicinal mushrooms is not as effortless as merely mixing them with honey...

There’s no savoury or vegetative nuance, as might be expected, but it’s smooth and sweet with rich, dark chocolatey undertones. Silvia, Honey Heaven

How do we get the mushrooms into the honey?

Mushrooms have a distinct cellular composition different from plants. While plants contain cellulose, which can be readily digested to provide nourishment, mushrooms have a chitin cell wall that our bodies find challenging to efficiently break down. Therefore, in order to harness the therapeutic advantages of medicinal mushrooms, it’s necessary to extract the beneficial compounds.

Once extracted, the fresh mushrooms are freeze-dried, powdered and blended into a smooth, easy-to-use form. Most other products featuring mushrooms usually only use two or three varieties and have been dehydrated prior to freeze-drying and being made into a powder.

In contrast, the seven mushroom varieties used in Honey Heaven’s Mushroom Honey have not been dehydrated during the process and so retain 90% of the goodness of the raw mushrooms.

Does Mushroom Honey work?

Absolutely! Mushroom Honey has already gained popularity among the various individuals with have supplied, and it's not limited to adults - children love it too:

‘Looks like chocolate spread, tastes really good – can I have some more?’ Louis, Age 6

‘Pure, scrumptious and delicious, it’s got a nice tang to it. It’s like Nutella!’ Chloe, Age 10 (and it’s perfect for Chloe as she has been recently diagnosed as lactose intolerant so can no longer have Nutella)

Medicinal mushrooms have been used for centuries; it’s only recently that they’ve gained popularity in western society and there are many recent scientific studies starting to prove the many benefits of medicinal mushrooms.

Plus, the science behind the active compounds in medicinal mushrooms back up why our first Mushroom Honey consumers feel so much better than they did before.

What are the active compounds of each mushroom?

We all know that mushrooms are a great source of protein and that protein contributes to the maintenance and growth in muscle mass and to the maintenance of normal bones. But let’s find out the possible distinct health-enhancing polysaccharides and medicinal properties of each of the mushrooms on our blend.

Reishi Mushrooms

Reishi mushrooms, also known as the "mushroom of immortality," hold significant medicinal value. Revered in traditional Chinese medicine for centuries, they offer a wide range of benefits. Reishi mushrooms are renowned for their potential to support immune function and promote overall well-being.

It is claimed these extraordinary fungi possess strong anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, making them effective in combating oxidative stress and reducing inflammation in the body. Additionally, Reishi mushrooms have been associated with improved sleep quality, reduced stress levels, and enhanced liver health.

Chaga Mushrooms

Chaga mushrooms, often referred to as the "king of mushrooms," are a prized component of traditional medicine in Siberian and Northern European cultures. These unique fungi offer a myriad of potential benefits.

These include powerful antioxidant properties, which help combat free radicals and promote cellular health. They are also known for their immune-boosting effects, aiding in the body's natural defence mechanisms, and have been linked to potential anti-inflammatory effects.

These mushrooms offer a wide array of potential benefits including showing promise in regulating blood sugar levels, supporting cardiovascular health, and reducing inflammation.

Maitake mushrooms are renowned for their immune-boosting properties, helping to strengthen the body's natural defence mechanisms because they contain a compound called beta-glucan, which has been linked to improved immune function.

Lion’s Mane

Lion's Mane mushrooms are unique and fascinating fungi with a striking appearance reminiscent of a lion's mane. These mushrooms are native to Asia, particularly found in countries like China, Japan, and Korea, but are now cultivated and enjoyed worldwide.

Lion's Mane mushrooms are highly regarded for their potential health benefits and have been used in traditional medicine for centuries. They are rich in various bioactive compounds, including polysaccharides and hericenones, which are believed to possess neuroprotective, anti-inflammatory, and immune-boosting properties.

Additionally, Lion's Mane mushrooms have gained attention for their potential cognitive benefits, as studies suggest they may support brain health, enhance memory, and promote overall mental well-being.

Cordyceps

Cordyceps mushrooms are a fascinating species of fungi that have long been revered in traditional Chinese medicine for their purported benefits. Cordyceps mushrooms are mainly found in the high-altitude regions of the Himalayas, Tibet, and parts of China.

Over the centuries, they have been used to address a variety of health concerns, including fatigue, respiratory issues, and low libido. Cordyceps mushrooms are rich in bioactive compounds, such as cordycepin, adenosine, and polysaccharides, which are believed to possess antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and immune-modulating properties.
